Golf Course Superintendent, Doug Kendziorski

Golf Course Superintendent Doug Kendziorski has been at Black Lake Golf Club during construction and the grow-in and is well-acquainted with northern Michigan golf.

Kendziorski, a 1990 graduate of Michigan State University's Turfgrass Management program, began his career on the staff of Grand Traverse Resort's Jack Nicklaus-designed Bear course in 1987.

While at Michigan State he spent a season at Toftrees Resort in Pennsylvania and worked a semester as a heavy equipment operator during the construction of Pete Dye's Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, S.C. The course hosted the 1991 Ryder Cup matches.

Kendziorski was Assistant Superintendent at the Bear at Grand Traverse from 1990-93, then was appointed Superintendent of the resort's Spruce Run course from 1993-97. He moved up to Superintendent of the Bear in 1997 and oversaw that until his appointment to Black Lake.

"It's been a great experience watching this terrific golf course come together," Kendziorski said. "My staff and I look forward to maintaining the course to the highest standards possible. We are all extremely proud of what's been accomplished here, and can't wait to show our work off to UAW members and the general public."
